Our Mission / Our Story
We grew up in South Florida where our immigrant parents opened up their restaurant. We saw how hard our parents worked just to provide for our family but most importantly, we saw how they ran a successful business for over 20 years and how they treated people with respect. Simply put, they cared.
We truly believe that an ingredient to a successful business is to care and respect everyone. Building a relationship centered around trust, respect, responsiveness, and kindness is our priority. Our mission and goal is to help you grow your business as not just your accountant but as a true business partner. We believe that business entrepreneurs should focus on what they do best and that is to increase revenues. May Wong, CPA
I graduated from the University of Central Florida with my bachelor's in 2007 and master's in 2008 both in accounting. I began my career at Ernst & Young in the Orlando office in 2009 as a staff auditor and worked there for four years. After, I went to work for Verizon Communications in Lake Mary in the fixed asset and revenue accounting departments for three years. I received my certified public accountant license in 2009 in the State of Florida.
In July 2016, I took the leap of faith and left the corporate accounting world to work at MJ Tax and Consulting full time with my twin sister. It was one of the scariest but best decisions I've ever made!
June Wong, CPA
I graduated from the University of Florida in 2007 with a bachelor's in marketing. I went straight into a master's program at the University of Central Florida for hospitality and tourism management as I wanted to work in resorts and hotels around the world. After graduating in 2009 with my masters, I worked for Wyndham Vacation Ownership at their flagship timeshare resort near Disney. I had worked very closely with the accounting department at Wyndham and so I had a newfound interest in accounting. My sister really gave me that final push to go back to school for accounting. In 2012, I graduated with my second master's in taxation at the University of Central Florida.
I started my tax career at Grant Thornton in 2012 and was licensed as a certified public accountant in 2013. Soon after, I was given the opportunity as CFO and VP of Marketing at a marketing company specializing in international trade where I worked for two years. The experience I have gained in every single position I have held taught me all sides of running a small business between marketing, management, and accounting.
In 2015, May and I finally turned our dream into reality with MJ Tax & Consulting!
